Allegro teams up with Visa to launch a payment card
  • Allegro, in partnership with Visa, one of the global leaders in digital payments,  is expanding its portfolio with a payment card.
  • The payment card addresses the expectations of shoppers who have trusted the payments available through the Allegro Pay service.
  • The new card will also allow the use of Allegro Pay services beyond the Allegro platform – initially available for selected users.
Allegro Pay already has over 2 million users and consistently enjoys a high satisfaction rate, with an NPS score of 94. In the second quarter of the year, it provided financing worth PLN 2.7 billion, which translates into a year-on-year increase of 37%. The service thus helped to finance 13.9% of GMV ⎼ almost 2 pp more than a year earlier1. The newly tested card is an innovative response to the needs of customers seeking secure and straightforward financial solutions. The service was created through Allegro's partnership with Visa ⎼ a trusted global digital payment operator.

“Until now, the ability to shop with Allegro Pay was only available on the Allegro platform. With the new card, customers will be able to pay with funds allocated under the service both online and in-store. Going beyond the platform with Allegro Pay will allow us to significantly expand the scale of supported transactions, and further accelerate the growth of revenues generated by financial services"

emphasizes Rafał Czernik, VP Financial Services at Allegro, president of Allegro Pay.

The new card  will operate based on the popular Allegro Pay service, which offers secure financing for purchases using the buy now, pay later (BNPL) method. With this new solution, Allegro Pay users will be able to utilize their favorite service outside the Allegro platform ⎼ within the same credit limit they have in Allegro Pay, they will be able to use the card to pay for purchases at both online and brick-and-mortar stores.  This means that the payment deadline for each transaction will be postponed by 30 days. Just like with purchases financed by Allegro Pay on the shopping platform, card payments will be available as long as the user has sufficient creditworthiness. Users can also choose to extend the repayment period and split the payment into 3, 5, 10, 20, or 30 convenient installments. Cardholders will be able to manage their card directly within the Allegro Pay panel, without the need to register a new account or install an additional application.

The Allegro Pay card is a response to consumer expectations, such as highly personalized, intuitive, and more seamless payment experiences, enabling them to manage their finances in a way that meets their individual needs. Today's technology forms the foundation for a revolution in commerce, bringing potential benefits to billions of consumers, millions of merchants, and economies globally. The combination of great ideas with scale and resilience, as well as the security provided by the Visa network, allows unlocking new possibilities, also for our partners in Poland”

– says Adrian Kurowski, General Manager, Poland at Visa.

Allegro continuously develops its services to facilitate convenient online shopping. Shoppers on the platform have already saved over 12,9 billion PLN thanks to the Allegro Smart! program2, which provides unlimited deliveries and returns within a monthly or annual subscription. Additionally, with features such as the Lowest Price Guarantee, shoppers can be confident they are choosing the best offer ⎼ the platform compares prices of hundreds of thousands of offers daily across dozens of popular online stores to ensure its customers find the lowest prices on Allegro.
“New financial solutions, just like other innovations introduced by Allegro, are created to provide our shoppers with an improved shopping experience: we make their everyday purchases even faster, more convenient and more secure. This approach works, which is why today we have nearly 15 million active buyers in Poland3, and this number continues to grow” ⎼ points out Rafal Czernik.
Starting in October, the service will be available to selected Allegro Pay users. Over the coming months, it will be gradually made accessible to more customers. You can sign up today to be among the first ones to try out the new Allegro Pay card. To do so, you need to register in the service panel at Allegro Pay dashboard.
