Agreement between Allegro and the Chancellery of the Prime Minister on the sale of DVB-T2 / HEVC set-top boxes

Allegro signed an agreement with the Chancellery of the Prime Minister to adjust the terms of sale of digital terrestrial television set-top boxes.
From March 28, 2022, in Poland, as in other European Union countries, a new standard for broadcasting DVB-T2 / HEVC programs will be introduced.
As a result of the changes in the Allegro regulations, the sale of set-top boxes will be possible after the seller specifies their technical parameters.
The parties will cooperate to develop solutions to counteract the sale of set-top boxes that do not meet the DVB-T2 / HEVC standard.

On April 1st, Allegro.pl signed an agreement with the Chancellery of the Prime Minister on adjusting the terms of sale of digital terrestrial TV set-top boxes in connection with the introduction of the new DVB-T2 / HEVC broadcasting standard.

The document was signed by Janusz Cieszyński, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Government Plenipotentiary for Cybersecurity and Tom Ruhan, General Counsel and Jon Eastick,CFO at Allegro.eu. The agreement is aimed at consumer protection and joint cooperation in order to eliminate trade in devices that do not meet the new technical requirements.

On March 28, 2022, a new standard for broadcasting programs was introduced in the first provinces - DVB-T2 / HEVC. It will allow you to receive more TV programs with better picture and sound quality.

In Poland, the standard change in question is to take place in four stages:

Stage 1: from March 28, 2022, voiv. Lubuskie and Dolnośląskie;
Stage 2: from April 25, 2022, voiv. West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Greater Poland;
Stage 3: from May 23, 2022, voiv. Łódzkie, Opolskie, Śląskie, Świętokrzyskie, Małopolskie, Podkarpackie;
Stage 4: from June 27, 2022, voiv. Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, Lubelskie.

Under this agreement, Allegro changed its regulations and entered digital terrestrial television set-top boxes on the list of goods conditionally admitted for sale. This means that the description of the decoders to be listed will have to include detailed information about their parameters, allowing to determine whether they are capable of receiving the signal in the new standard.

The signed document is not the first collaboration of this type undertaken by Allegro. In February 2019, Allegro signed a declaration of cooperation with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology (and in 2020 with the OCCP) in counteracting illegal trade in goods that increase the emission of harmful dust into the atmosphere - joining the fight against the so-called Kopciuchy, i.e. coal stoves that do not meet the quality standards required by law.

Porozumienie Cyfryzacja KPRM i Allegro w sprawie sprzedaży dekoderów DVB-T2/HEVC - Nowa telewizja cyfrowa (DVB-T2) - Portal Gov.pl

KPRM podpisała z platformą sprzedażową Allegro porozumienie z na rzecz dostosowania warunków sprzedaży dekoderów naziemnej telewizji cyfrowej. W wyniku zmian w regulaminie Allegro, sprzedaż dekoderów będzie możliwa po określeniu przez sprzedawcę ich parametrów technicznych. Strony będą współpracować w celu wypracowania rozwiązań przeciwdziałających sprzedaży dekoderów, które nie spełniają standardu DVB-T2/HEVC.
